Installations

San Francisco, CA ( PRWEB) June 27, 2008 --
Magic Plumbing San Francisco is now performing Trenchless Sewer Installations in
San Francisco with the approval of the Department Of Building Inspection (DBI).
Until recently, trenchless sewer installations, also known as pipe bursting, were
performed on an as-needed basis requiring special approval from the City. All or
most other cities surrounding San Francisco already approve the trenchless method
without prior approval, San Francisco has been a late comer in allowing the
procedure to be performed without special approval. ''We are very pleased about
this,'' said the owner of Magic Plumbing, "getting special approval didn't stop us
from performing the installations, whenever it was a better alternative we always
had it approved but the extra step of getting approval was time consuming and
required an additional fee. Now that we can perform the trenchless pipe bursting
method we can provide a better service for our customers because before most
inspectors were reluctant to approve this superior way of installing a sewer line
in San Francisco."
How does it work?
Magic Plumbing uses the Tric system which works by digging two holes, one where the
sewer exits the building and the other at either the property line or in the street
where it connects to the mainline. A steel cable is then threaded through the old
sewer pipe and a hardened steel bursting head is attached to one end of the cable.
The new polyethylene pipe is then attached to the back of the bursting head. At the
other end the TRIC hydraulic system is set up which pulls the cable. Once the
system has been set up and turned on the operator uses a remote control to "pull"
the cable with the head and pipe attached down into the hole at the side of the
house. It then pulls the new HDPE pipe through the old pipe breaking it and pushing
the pieces out into the surrounding soil. The new pipe gets pulled all the way to
the exit hole where the connections are made, it is inspected and then the holes
filled in.
